a5c7b9f00b A race of non-corporeal, parasitic aliens who go from planet to planet looking for hosts have come to Earth and basically taken over the human race. It's believed that, once inside a body, all memories of the host human are gone. Some few free humans remain hidden from them, forming a resistance group. When an alien Seeker captures a girl named Melanie and puts a Wanderer in her body, she hopes to find out where the remaining humans are gathered, but Melanie, a strong fighter able to converse with the alien in her commandeered body, convinces the Wanderer to say nothing. Disappointed by the lack of progress (though suspecting an empathy for the human), the Seeker informs the Wanderer that she'll be removed and placed in a new host while she herself will enter Melanie. With human lives at risk, Melanie convinces Wanderer to run away and hide out with the humans, but finding them doesn't mean they'll allow an alien presence among them. Jared (Melanie's boyfriend) wants her dead, but Jeb (Melanie's uncle) wants to wait, and Ian, tasked with guarding her, finds himself siding with Jeb. As Ian begins to fall for Melanie, a strange love triangle develops, with Ian wanting Wanderer (inhabiting Melanie's body), Jared wanting Melanie (imprisoned inside her own body), and no one knowing any way to separate the two without killing both. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world. First you have to know, that this is a movie based on a book more that 600 pages long and that you cannot possibly expect everything to be in it. Even doe it lacks some events it includes new ones that make film better to understand. Actors are perfect, I'm just a little disappointed in their looks; most of them do not look anything like those from the book. Music is great and it sets a beautiful vibe to the scenario. Yes, some parts are a little funny, easy to make jokes about and especially the first couple of minutes are a little awkward. But when you get into the movie it sets you in the whole other world like the book. It's not as good as I hoped, but it lived up to my expectations on the whole different level. I think the storyline just drags and is very dull. I found there was no real moral or point that you normally get conveyed to you it was very dull. If you love things like human aliens and futuristic type films yeah sure this is the one for you but even then there's no proper storyline or not knowing whats going to happen next in it. I think they could have put some mystery into the film and maybe some psychological twists because of the futuristic setting and maybe other place settings than the few they had. But although I have said all this Saoirse Ronan is a very good actress and can differently feel who she is in The Host. And I loved the trailer that's why I have given this film 4 stars out of 10. The Host is top-heavy with profound, sonorous conversations, all tending to sound like farewells. The movie is so consistently pitched at the same note, indeed, that the structure robs it of possibilities for dramatic tension.
